Pavilion House
Ahangama
A modernist home swimming in tropical light, 5 minutes from Ahangama town
Rooms and spaces
Pavilion House has 3 comfortable guest bedrooms on two levels (2 up, 1 down). The main living space on the ground floor - an open plan kitchen and living room - opens to a wide terrace, set up nicely for dining, and a lovely pool that splashes into the garden below.
Nearby
Beaches, paddy fields, sandy cafes
At Pavilion House, we’re about 5 minutes drive inland from the beaches and bars of Ahangama, Kabalana and Midigama - a quiet little neighbourhood of Sri Lankan homes with some new more recent arrivals.
There are some of the island’s best surf breaks a short Tuk ride in either direction once you hit the coast road.
And gorgeous sandy stretches if you head either way too.
Turn inland and you’re quickly into very rural, green, rice paddy and cinnamon land - perfect for evening walks and or gentle bike rides.
Livelier scenes, with some of Sri Lanka’s most interesting eating and drinking spots are just as close by.
Food
…and drink
Pavilion House has a well-set kitchen with everything you’ll need should you wish to cook up something special.
There’s no ‘in-house’ cook but you’re super close to really great spots if you’re keen to take it easy on the cooking front.
For breakfast, we’ve prepared an optional shopping list of delicious locally available items that the guys at the house will happily buy for you, should you want to make your own breakfasts.
There’s a simple local mini (snack) bar kept ready and waiting for you on arrival
Out and about
Yoga and pilates
There are plenty of great spots for expertly guided classes within easy reach. Some of our favourites include Pura Pilates, Ulu and (a little more of a drive) the gorgeous studio/shala at Kurulu Bay.
Surf spots
Beginners might wanna turn left on the coast road and head down to Weligama Bay. Intermediate folks will enjoy Marshmallow and Cove. Advanced surfers tend to make for The Rock at Kabalana and Ram’s.
Bike rides
We really love cycling through the villages and paddy fields. The best guys we’ve found for guided tours are Best of Lanka and - if you’re ok to take a Tuk to the start point - Idle Bikes.
Roshan and team at the house will be happy to help you arrange transport to/from or make reservations as needed.
For more ideas, give him a shout.

House story and who’s there
Pavilion House is owned by Harry and Tessa who juggle running one of the UK’s best water parks and a thriving catering business with time spent in Sri Lanka.
With two young children they’ve taken care to the make house child-friendly, recently adding (removable) fencing around the pool and a smart new glass ‘banister’ along the open staircase.
Roshan
House manager extraordinaire - your go-to guy Tuks & bikes, resto recommendations, night spots and general goss on what’s happening in and around Ahangama.
Getting here
Pavilion House is slightly tucked away on quiet (sometimes narrow) roads. Best plan is to follow Google Maps.
Arrival times - check-in is typically from 2pm on. We’d appreciate you messaging Roshan in advance so he can be sure to be at the house when you arrive.
We’d advise against arriving after dark if at all possible as any misstep on the way in is harder to resolve!
